Legal Controversy: NANS President's Lawsuit

On May 14, 2025, Atiku Abubakar Isah, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), filed a ₦38.3 billion lawsuit against Seyi Tinubu, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Isah alleges abduction, unlawful detention, and torture, claiming these actions were attempts to silence his activism and remove him from NANS leadership. He is seeking both general and exemplary damages for the alleged violations of his fundamental rights. 

In a surprising turn, just a week before the lawsuit, Isah publicly recanted his allegations and apologized to Seyi Tinubu. He admitted that his earlier claims were based on misinformation provided by a rival faction within NANS, led by Olusola Ladoja. Isah acknowledged that the alleged bribe and assault did not occur and that he had been misled into making false accusations. 

Seyi Tinubu's Response

Seyi Tinubu has firmly denied any involvement in the alleged incidents. He stated that he has never met or communicated with Isah and described the accusations as entirely fictional and defamatory.

Beyond the controversies, Seyi Tinubu has been actively engaging with various stakeholders across Nigeria. He has been touring the country, meeting with community leaders, and participating in initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and national development.
