Politics should Never Becomes Part of Nigeria's Security Story

Governor Seyi Makinde says the school abduction happened less than 24 hours after he declared his presidential ambition.

I hope that is nothing more than an unfortunate coincidence.
But statements like this show how little trust many Nigerians have in our political system.
Security should never become something politicians have to think about when deciding whether to contest an election.
I believe Mr. President has a responsibility to ensure that every politician—regardless of party—can campaign freely and safely. That is how strong democracies work.
The best way to silence speculation is through transparency, professionalism, and equal protection for everyone.
Nigerians should never have to wonder whether politics and security are connected.
